Can I Get Invisalign® When I Have Porcelain Veneers?

For many people struggling with gaps in their smile, teeth misalignment, and other aesthetic concerns, corrective and cosmetic dentistry treatments offer an effective solution. Two popular options that can improve smile aesthetics are Invisalign® and porcelain veneers. Orthodontic Invisalign® treatment involves the use of clear, removable aligners that gradually shift teeth into a more desirable position, often making it a good alternative to metal braces for ideal candidates. While Invisalign® predominately corrects misalignment, gaps, and bite irregularities, porcelain veneers are primarily designed to correct cosmetic issues such as severe discoloration, chips, misshapen teeth, and other concerns. Adhered to the front and side surfaces of the teeth, custom-designed porcelain veneers can conceal those imperfections with results that look natural.

Some patients question whether they can still pursue Invisalign® if they already have porcelain veneers. The short answer – yes, you can undergo Invisalign® treatment with porcelain veneers.

While it is possible, it may be recommended that you start with Invisalign® if you have yet to pursue either treatment. It may be an optimal approach to first shift teeth into a better position before addressing additional aesthetic concerns; however, the reverse order can still produce quality results.
